Alton, IL  |  The Great Rivers National Research Center is a Certified LEED Gold building that includes laboratories, research areas, administrative offices, classrooms, overnight accommodations, and boat and truck storage. The sustainably-designed project utilized a vegetation roof, solar hot water, wind energy, hydro kinetic energy, rainwater harvesting, river water reuse in the HVAC system, and natural on-site wastewater treatment system.
