Construction Firms Fuel Growth Among St. Louis’ Largest Private Companies
September 10, 2026 | Revenue gains among many of the St. Louis region’s largest private companies were driven by construction, engineering and infrastructure firms, even as several homebuilders and contractors posted sharp declines.
This year’s List ranks the region’s largest private companies by 2025 revenue. Many of the region’s largest private companies are headquartered in St. Louis and remain key contributors to the local economy through employment, capital investment and business spending. Enterprise Mobility, the Clayton-based rental car giant, remained No. 1 at $39 billion, up from $38 billion a year earlier, while Maryland Heights-based World Wide Technology held the No. 2 spot at $20 billion. Des Peres-based financial services firm Edward Jones and Clayton-based electrical supply company Graybar also posted substantial revenue gains while maintaining their positions among the region’s largest private companies.
Further down the list, some of the strongest growth came from construction-related companies. TW Constructors nearly doubled revenue to $369.5 million from $192.2 million, while Contegra Construction, IMI Inc., Millstone Weber and J.F. Electric each reported growth of more than 40%. ArchKey Solutions increased revenue to $2.1 billion from $1.7 billion, and Keeley Companies grew to $768.1 million from $605.3 million.
Not every company shared in the growth. Kadean Construction reported one of the list’s steepest declines, with revenue falling 53% year over year. Holland Construction Services, TJ Wies Contracting and McBride Homes also recorded significant decreases. The data suggests growth was concentrated among infrastructure, electrical and commercial construction firms rather than spread evenly across industries. Several of the region’s fastest-growing companies also expanded their local workforces. World Wide Technology added nearly 1,000 St. Louis-area employees, while ArchKey Solutions, McCarthy Holdings, J.F. Electric, Guarantee Electrical and IMI Inc. all reported notable local headcount gains, particularly among construction, engineering and technology-related businesses.
