Work Starts on Another 1-Million-Square-Foot Etna Warehouse
September 23, 2021 | The Chicago developer CRG has broken ground on a 1.1-million-square-foot warehouse in its Cubes at Etna development in Etna in Licking County.
The building is the second by CRG and its partner, Lexington Realty Trust, in the 289-acre development off Interstate 70 east of Columbus. The first building, 1.2-million-square-feet, was built for Kohl’s in 2020.
The new building, expected to be completed in the spring, does not have a tenant yet.
Four more sites remain available in the development.
“The Cubes at Etna 70 is a premier location within the Columbus market, offering immediate interstate access and freeway visibility to I-70,” Kevin Scott, vice president of investments and development for CRG said in a news release. “Columbus currently has extremely limited bulk facilities and tenant demand continues.”
Contegra Construction is building the CRG warehouse while Clayco is the architect.
CRG is also developing the Cubes at Rickenbacker in Obetz.
The development is the latest in a string of major warehouse projects in Greater Columbus to meet demand that was boosted by the pandemic’s shift to online shopping. About 15 million square feet of warehouse space is expected to be built in the Columbus region this year.
